The Event: The Landmark Center's annual fundraiser gala
The Theme: Tango Fiesta
The Design: Because this event is a fundraiser for the Landmark Center itself, I wanted the drape to accentuate the architecture of the building. The soaring atrium with its wonderful balconies all around make this a versatile space to design in. I decided to keep the design very clean and modern to draw the eye upward and create an elegant atmosphere.
I also created a dramatic backdrop for the band using orange and cinnamon colored crinkle taffetta, accented with golden twinkle lights.
The Lighting - Tango Fiesta instantly suggested hot colors to me, which went perfectly well with what the event planners had in mind. I used 20 500 watt par 64 fixtures, with a mixture of red, orange and gold gel colors.
